Coco

Mixed Breed · Male

Coco is a handsome, snow-white, slender tomcat just over a year old. Up until now, the young fellow lived with his buddy in a purely apartment-friendly environment. Although Coco loves his companion and the people who care for him, his soul yearns for the adventures that only a life with free roam can offer, so he came to us to find this dream home. How hard it must have been for his family to part ways, anyone who has looked into Cocos' golden-brown eyes can understand, because he is a true dream cat: gentle, cuddly, very calm and unusually composed for his young age. Yet, he is interested in everything that happens around him. He curiously inspects his transitional home without any fear. With people, he is incredibly affectionate – he probably doesn’t even know that he could scratch or bite. He comes when called, enjoys being gently cuddled, and waits patiently for his share of treats or other attentions until it’s his turn. Toward other cats, he is interested without pushing or provoking them. Even animals that clearly do not appreciate his company do not faze him: he simply ignores them. Of course, we cannot rule out the possibility that there are also cats that Coco finds annoying. Generally, however, he – at least for now – is extremely compatible with his fellow animals. Whether he could stand up to a very dominant animal is uncertain, as he himself does not tend to be aggressive. Therefore, we wish for him a very friendly feline companion of a similar age and temperament in the new home, one who is happy to have a friendly playmate but does not want to dominate him. His new people should also match him. Since Coco is very uncomplicated, this is not too difficult and should not be a problem for new cat owners, provided they are seriously prepared to engage with the nature of their new companion. As he is very friendly and not very defensive, there is a risk that his needs might be overlooked and neglected. This is especially true if there are children in the household, for whom Coco can be a wonderful friend, but not a toy, but a living being that must also be given time to rest. After an adjustment period, Coco needs secure free roam. For more information: 0157 – 52 68 76 61. This cat needs outdoor access. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

DE·Show original

Weitere Informationen: 0157 – 52 68 76 61.

About Coco

What life with Coco looks like

Coco is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. in Neuwied.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
