Kimmy

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 9 years

Kimmy and Jack are five-year-old black and white siblings who were rehomed with us as puppies. Unfortunately, their owner developed an allergy over time, which is why they have come back to us and are waiting on one of our foster sites to move to a new permanent home. Kimmy and Jack are very friendly animals, but they are not particularly cuddly cats. Although they enjoy being petted, they consistently go their own way when they've had enough of the attention. The cute siblings never react aggressively - they simply retreat and leave. It might help here not to overwhelm them and to wait patiently until they seek human attention on their own. If they realize that in their interaction with their humans they always have control and are not held against their will, it could lead to them gaining more interest in cuddling sessions over time and perhaps becoming lap cats eventually. Of course, we cannot guarantee this! In any case, Kimmy and Jack need patient people. Especially towards strangers, Kimmy is very reserved. It may therefore take some time for them to settle in their new home and trust their new owners. Small children or other animals should not be part of the household. Above all, the two must stay together. As both cats are passionate outdoor cats and hunters (!), after an adjustment period they absolutely need the opportunity to safely roam around the neighborhood. Note: Jack is among the cats who experienced significant dental problems at a young age, so a comprehensive teeth cleaning is due, which will be carried out at the expense and under the care of the Cat Aid organization.

DE·Show original

About Kimmy

What life with Kimmy looks like

Kimmy is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. in Neuwied.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kimmy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kimmy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kimmy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kimmy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kimmy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kimmy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kimmy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
