Collarino

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

04-11-2016 - Here is Collarino today. The little one is better and is enjoying the sun. The wounds on the body are healing quickly, it's the wounds of the soul that are hard to erase, but he is a good puppy. No one has looked for him, who knows where he has lived until a few days ago? Appeared from nowhere, in desperate conditions, could it be that no one ever noticed him? These are the mysteries we will never understand. Taking a dog means taking responsibility for a life, how is it possible to reduce a creature like this? We hope to see him smile again, he is young and we sincerely hope that he can find a family that will make him forget his past. 26-10-2016 - He has two very sad eyes, he is very scared, he has certainly received a lot of a lot of bad things. The wounds on the neck will heal and over time also those of the soul. Collarino is a young puppy, how much suffering must he have endured with that cursed collar around his neck. He will become a nice child. Thanks to those who support us, it is only to you that our gratitude goes, you are the ones who save these creatures, alone we could do nothing. Thank you from Collarino. 25-10-2016 - He was found wandering with a collar embedded in the flesh. For how long had "it" been working, causing him unimaginable pain? He is a male about one year old, a typical hunting dog, but perhaps not suitable for the same and therefore abandoned to his fate. He does not have a chip..... He was immediately sedated and our veterinarians struggled a lot to remove what had already become for him a tool of torture, full of pus even in the head. Now he is under treatment, but only the results of the tests will tell us if there is an ongoing infection. Poor creature emits a rotten, nauseating smell. We called him Collarino. This evening we will be able to give you more details.

04-11-2016 - Ecco Collarino oggi.

About Collarino

What life with Collarino looks like

Collarino is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Collarino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Collarino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Collarino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Collarino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Collarino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Collarino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Collarino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
