Conan

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Conan is a real prince: a picture of a German German Shepherd. His story about his life before coming to the animal shelter is not known. He is people-oriented and very friendly. However, this should not overshadow the fact that he is a typical representative of his breed, i.e., attentive, willful, intelligent, as well as physically strong and robust. The German German Shepherd was originally bred as a working dog and is not suitable for beginner dog owners. Conan is an active dog who can be somewhat independent and usually does not greet other male dogs kindly. His future primary caregiver should be aware of this and also be prepared for the fact that they may need to physically handle this imposing male dog, for example, during walks in certain situations. However, there is still a bit of puppy in Conan, because he loves toys, especially to chew on. Conan has tested positive for leishmaniasis and will need appropriate medication in the future, which must also be known to his/her adopters. Those who know and love German German Shepherds will be delighted by Conan. With the appropriate care form for this breed – a house and garden, and if another dog is already in the new home, it should be a female dog – paired with the necessary know-how, love, understanding, patience, clarity, and consistency, Conan will be a wonderful companion dog. This is a high standard, but the effort will be well worth it for the new dog-human team. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

DE·Show original

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Conan

What life with Conan looks like

Conan is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Conan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Conan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Conan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Conan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Conan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Conan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Conan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
