adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Cooper has found his people! His story: Dream Dog Cooper absolutely captivated us at our visit to the our shelter! He combines all the wonderful traits one could imagine. Cooper is beautiful and has a very special marking on his face: his face halves are exactly divided by a straight line in the middle, like it was drawn with a ruler! One side is gray and the other side is white. And to top it off, he has the most expressive gray eyebrow a dog can have 😀 He looks like he was painted by Picasso… and his brother is also named Picasso! He and his siblings Michi, Creamy, Juna-Elin, Elli, Jack, Käthe, and Picasso lived on the streets together with their mother. However, she is too shy, so she hasn't been caught yet. But now, all the puppies are in safe shelter and are looking for a loving home. The mother is a German Shepherd-Mix. The father is unknown. Cooper is super social and gets along well with all the other dogs in the shelter. He sits as the only adult dog next to the mini-puppies and behaves like the "father." If someone accidentally walks too close to his pen, he greets everyone affectionately and shows no aggression. On the contrary, he seems to be overjoyed by everything that happens. As long as he gets attention, visits, and some fun. With Cooper, you get a great package of beauty, intelligence, social skills, and lots of dog and love! Cooper is looking for people who can show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a young pup and has a lot to learn. Cooper is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, preferably also some head and nose work, and lots of snuggling on the couch. He would also be thrilled with dog sports like Mantrailing. In the first year of life, dogs should be as little alone as possible. Somewhere down the line, the more challenging pubertal phase will also arrive. The hormone chaos turns the young dogs' lives upside down. They often "forget" everything they've learned so far, and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to consistently but lovingly train. Since the mother is a German Shepherd-Mix and it cannot be ruled out that Cooper has herding dog genes, it would be wise to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of herding and guard dogs. Cooper wishes for a more rural home with a garden where he can lie and enjoy the sun. Cooper travels neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated with his EU pet passport. He will be, after a positive match, Thank you Vivi! You gave Cooper his name and thus an identity. As of: 16.05. This is a young, adolescent dog.

Stand: 16.05.2024

About Cooper

What life with Cooper looks like

Cooper is a very small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cooper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cooper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cooper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cooper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cooper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cooper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cooper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
