Copito

Mixed Breed · Male

Copito is a happy and very lovable, three-year-old Maltese dog, who comes from a loving household and has never had bad experiences with people. You are probably wondering how such a dream dog ended up in the hands of our friends in Andalusia. Copitos' story is the story of many dogs. He was bought and his owner never thought about what would happen to his best friend if the day came when his master no longer came home. In fact, Copitos' owner died suddenly and the family felt unable to care for the small lonely dog. So the sad male dog spent some time on the terrace of his former home, was often alone and lost his will to live. The relatives of his master tried desperately to find a new home for Copito, but when all efforts failed, they finally asked the animal welfare workers of ArcoNatura for help. Copito was able to move from his lonely terrace to an experienced foster family, where he quickly made friends with all four- and two-legged roommates. Since Copito was outside almost the entire winter and his coat wasn't cared for, the fun curly head had to be shaved pretty radically at first, but hair grows back, and Copito also looks really good with a military short haircut. The lively fluffball is three years old (as of 02/2023), so in the best of ages - young enough to learn everything, already grown out of the mischief of puberty, but still up for any fun. Now that the cuddly male dog has been freshly washed, groomed, dewormed, vaccinated, given a passport and found to be absolutely lovable, Copito is looking for a new family through this channel - one that he can love and that will love him, one that takes long walks with him and massages his soft belly until he falls asleep contentedly in front of the TV in the evening. We wish the little gentleman lots of luck in his search and congratulate his future owners already now on their new best friend with sofa cushion qualities!

DE·Show original

About Copito

What life with Copito looks like

Copito is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Copito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Copito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Copito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Copito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Copito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Copito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Copito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
