Cora

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 12 years

Cora - from chain life to heart, female dog, spayed, born October 2013, approximately 50 cm, Cora has spent her life on a chain - day after day, year after year. No soft bed, no walks, little affection, as a dog actually deserves. And yet she has kept her heart. Now she waits in a foster home of our rescue station Asipa in Romania for a family to adopt her. Cora is an incredibly people-oriented dog - she seeks closeness, enjoys every caress and flourishes when she feels that love is being given to her. Despite her sad past, she is full of trust and joie de vivre. She was born in October 2013, so she is at the best senior age - calm, composed and with a gentle nature. She loves leisurely walks, caresses and above all: just being there. Cora deserves to finally find a home where she can arrive. A place with loving people, a soft place to rest and time for affection. She gets along with other dogs most of the time, but she doesn't need any hustle anymore - a quiet household would be ideal. A home with a garden would be wonderful, but it's not a must - what's important is the proximity to humans, which she has missed for so long. A confident dog in the new home would certainly be very good. With cats, she is unfortunately not compatible! The very special family that decides to give Cora a chance and change her life forever must have patience with her and show her that she is really loved. Cora needs patient and empathetic people who give her the time to build trust and overcome her fears, but also encourage and work with her. Cora should not be in a household with small children. She has a lot to learn - this includes house training, leash training and much more. Living in a house/apartment or raising a dog, as life in a domestic environment requires, she has not had before. At Asipa, she has already been shown that walking on a leash is nothing bad. But of course, this must be consolidated. Help Cora to a happy life! She will give you her love and gratitude a thousandfold in return. Our dogs are vaccinated, chipped, spayed and treated against parasites as a precaution. They travel with Traces papers and our association has the expertise according to § 11. For the great luck, a loving family or single person is still missing, who gives her a home, love and security. About Cora

What life with Cora looks like

Cora is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
