adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Cosmo has found a home! His story: The start of Cosmo's life was far from easy. Found together with his four siblings as a tiny puppy on the streets of Romania, he was unwanted, unprotected, and on his own. Fortunately, his little family was discovered in time and brought to safety. Today, this difficult time is behind him, as Cosmo has lived since late May in a loving foster home in Germany and has already made enormous progress there. Now, all he lacks is his very own forever home. Cosmo is now approximately nine months old and in the midst of puberty. During this phase, young dogs test boundaries, are curious, playful, and sometimes a bit stubborn. But it is precisely here that Cosmos shows his great strength: He is incredibly smart, learns quickly, and enjoys working closely with his human. With clear, calm guidance, patience, and especially positive reinforcement, he is easily trainable. Praise, motivation, and fair communication are the keys to success for Cosmo – pressure or harshness would only unsettle him. In his foster home, Cosmo shows how much potential he has. He loves cuddle sessions just as much as energetic play and puzzle games. Even in everyday life, he is surprisingly sovereign: He handles being alone well, using this time mostly to nap. Occasionally, out of curiosity, he might steal something – typical of a young dog – but usually doesn't break anything. Even in the office, Cosmo is a little model dog: calm, relaxed, and content. On a leash, Cosmo is already well approachable. Walking on a leash works well, but during dog encounters, he sometimes still shows excitement – then he wants to go right away. More training, patience, and repetition are needed here. His recall, however, is already very reliable; he listens attentively and is happy to come back. Right now, it is important to continue where his foster home left off. For Cosmo, attending a positively working dog training class would be wonderful. There, he can continue to learn, better control his impulses, focus on his human, and gather positive experiences with other dogs. Joint training not only strengthens basic obedience but also the bond and mutual trust – something that benefits Cosmo greatly. Cosmo is social with other dogs, friendly to children, and in general an open, cheerful companion. He has not had any contact with cats yet. For his future home, we wish for people who are willing to invest time in training, exercise, and mental stimulation. Walks, search games, small training sequences, and sufficient quiet phases make Cosmo happy and balanced. Cosmo is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings his EU pet passport with him and can be adopted after a positive assessment. Who will give this smart, cuddly young dog a loving home and accompany him on his journey to adulthood with patience, positive reinforcement, and joy? A special thank you goes to Toni, who gave Cosmo his name and thus his own identity. As of: 18.12.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 18.12.2025

About Cosmo

What life with Cosmo looks like

Cosmo is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cosmo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cosmo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cosmo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cosmo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cosmo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cosmo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cosmo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
