Crash (Notfall)

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Name: Crash Born: ca. 2024 Gender: male dog, neutered Breed: mixed breed Size: rather small Foster home: Crash is currently in a foster home abroad with our animal welfare friends. He urgently needs a place so he doesn't have to return to the streets…. He can travel as soon as we find a foster home (preferably with adoption intentions) in the Mainz/Wiesbaden area. The age mentioned here often refers to estimated values, as we don't always know the exact age. Other information like size is subjective. Unfortunately, his name came about because he was found injured (likely from an accident) on the street…. How long he had been traveling with this injury…. we don't know… we can't say anything about his past life either…. He tolerated the surgery well and is still recovering a bit in the veterinary clinic… but then he needs a safe place to fully recover…. Sadly, it's almost impossible to find a foster home on-site… 🙁 and the finder who is currently taking care of him is leaving Romania in March… Crash is a model patient 🙂 he should be better as an individual dog in his new home/foster home, so he doesn't get overwhelmed too quickly. We have the wonderful offer of a physiotherapist who will accompany Crash in his healing process, so it would be a dream if we could find a foster home in the Bad Kreuznach area for him. We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give him a second chance at a responsible home. If you are interested in this great dog, please fill out the Referral Form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. Click an image to enlarge.

About Crash (Notfall)

What life with Crash (Notfall) looks like

Crash (Notfall) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Crash (Notfall), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Crash (Notfall)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Crash (Notfall) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Crash (Notfall) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Crash (Notfall) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Crash (Notfall) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Crash (Notfall) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
