Adopt Csillag

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Csillag was observed together with her sister as homeless on a cemetery in Hungary over several days and was eventually brought to the animal shelter in Szeged, which we have been managing for years. Given the countless German Shepherds in the three animal shelters we manage in Hungary, we are particularly eager to find Austrian families for them. In Hungary, many strays and mixed breeds would end up on chains. The less than one-year-old female German Shepherd is very friendly and people-oriented. She has no fear and has already learned to walk on a leash—thanks to the really engaged dog caretakers and walkers in the area. Csillag gets along well with other dogs, regardless of gender, is attentive, and, being typical of the breed, very trainable and would soon deserve to find her home with us in Austria. Since we currently do not have a kennel available at the animal shelter in Hallein for the two sisters, they will have to wait for their big journey to us. The female dog is vaccinated and microchipped and would come to us with a blue EU Pass.

About Csillag

What life with Csillag looks like

Csillag is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Hallein in Hallein.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Csillag, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Csillag?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hallein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Csillag on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Csillag if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hallein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Csillag already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Csillag isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hallein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Csillag and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
