Cupido

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Generalities: microchipped and vaccinated, a wonderful molosser mix with golden fur, he has a huge head and since he's been with us, eating and moving properly, he has gained a nice muscle tone that he lacked before, especially in his hind legs. Temperament: Definitely Cupido is a tough dog, with few reference people he has a great relationship, he likes to be cuddled and appreciates contact (which gives us good hope that this will also be the case with his future owner). With strangers, however, he tends to use distancing behaviors, barking, for example. He is a fan of tennis balls and rubber chickens, although with his giant mouth they remain intact for a very short time. He is also a water fanatic and during the warm season loves to take a bath by jumping into the small pool we have in the dog shelter. He is learning to wear the muzzle and gets into the car without problems, maintaining a fairly calm and composed attitude, probably he already knew the car before arriving at the dog shelter. Ideal adoption: Cupido is not a dog suitable for everyone, we are looking for adopters who have experience with dogs, especially those who know the breed (or better yet, the mix breed), and who are willing to follow our advice regarding his management. Definitely people who have time to dedicate to him even for a pre-adoption placement in the dog shelter, as Cupido is certainly not a dog that can be taken home after just one look, it is necessary for him to establish a relationship first. You need to have a bit of authority because sometimes he tends to be a bit stubborn and domineering. Apartment or house with a garden, in the event of being placed only in the garden, we obviously ask that he has adequate space, a suitable area as shelter, and that he is guaranteed walks even outside. No children. Adoption placement to be evaluated in the presence of another female dog. No cats. Background: Captured.

No gatti. Provenienza: Accalappiato.

About Cupido

What life with Cupido looks like

Cupido is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at ENPA Monza e Brianza in Monza.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cupido, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cupido?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ENPA Monza e Brianza handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cupido on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cupido if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ENPA Monza e Brianza will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cupido already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cupido isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ENPA Monza e Brianza early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cupido and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
