Daddy

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Daddy - extremely friendly dog senior What a sweet dog! Daddy has suffered the same fate as so many dogs in Spain. He became too old, was no longer wanted and was simply given up and left to an uncertain future. Probably, a new dog is now sitting in his place, and in a few years, that dog will have the same experience. Fortunately, there are people in Germany who have a big heart for older dogs and who take pleasure in making the last years of an old dog's life precious. Daddy is a fine guy. At the shelter, he is allowed to run freely with the large group on the premises, which of course only applies to the nice, uncomplicated dogs who get along well with people and other dogs. We wish for Daddy to exchange the hard concrete floor for a soft basket before the coming dampness and cold of autumn and winter. His new humans should accept him as he is and not want to pursue any major training strategies. Daddy just wants to keep up and be pampered, and in return, he will show his gratitude with love. He probably won't need long hikes anymore, but he will certainly enjoy nice walks in nature, because he is still quite capable of walking. We would like his new home to be on the ground floor and a garden would be a dream for him. One side of his face looks as if he had an accident or received a strong blow, but according to our veterinarian, it could also be something congenital. Daddy doesn't seem to mind, and we hope you won't either. Would you like to give Daddy a home? Then feel free to contact his adoption officer. Here goes Daddy's video Here goes Video 2

About Daddy

What life with Daddy looks like

Daddy is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Daddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Daddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Daddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Daddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Daddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Daddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Daddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
