Daisy

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Daisy was rehomed in May 2016 as a second dog thanks to Tierisch tierisch!!! ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………. I am female, spayed, microchipped and born in 2007. I am about 35cm tall. I have been waiting for a new home since March 2016. This is what my caretakers say about me: Daisy is an adoption from our veterinary office together with five other dogs. They were loved, but the care of the unneutered dog group got out of hand and there was no money for proper medical care. Daisy is the oldest in the pack, probably also the mother of the gang. She arrived with a proper mite infestation, and during the spaying it was also found that some lumps could already be felt in the milk line. All necessary medical treatment has now been completed, the regular parasite treatment, the spaying and also the removal of the milk line were handled by Terriermanier. Already on the second day after the actually bigger procedure she was back to her old self. Daisy is by no means old, she has breed typical temperament and her life as a leader in the pack is clearly noticeable. No matter what macho on four legs she meets, Daisy remains calm and if necessary clearly shows that she is in charge. Despite her assertiveness with other animals, she has a very good character and gets along wonderfully with female dogs. If everyone is calm and well-behaved, she remains calm and cuddles with every pack member. She is an ideal second dog and a wonderful fair teacher for other dogs that can still benefit from it, as she always acts fairly and justly and never takes advantage of her position. She is also devoted to humans, regardless of their size. She is loving and cuddly, also quite well on a leash, and our smallest handlers really like Daisy. She is stress resistant, likes bustle, but also the quiet hours for cuddling. She is agile, adventurous and active. Naturally, she enjoys every petting and after getting used to it, she also respects the rest periods. She is breed typical in being watchful, can be left alone, is a good passenger and with sufficient off-leash time, she is naturally house trained. Daisy is a total beginner dog who will fit perfectly into any new environment. Walks well on a leash.

About Daisy

What life with Daisy looks like

Daisy is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Daisy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Daisy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Daisy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Daisy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Daisy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Daisy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Daisy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
