Dandijs

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

A six-year-old Dandijs is an active, cheerful and friendly boy. Happy as a puppy on every walk, treat and pet. Always greets people by jumping and wagging his tail, he is also a favorite of many regular volunteers, but no one has opened his home doors yet, because Dandijs is considered "serious". Not suitable for inexperienced dog owners in training and education, nor for families with children and other animals. Even though he is a great guy, here you need serious and knowledgeable owners who can set clear boundaries of what is allowed and what is not. He needs to be exercised and actively worked with Dandies - because the northern genes are in him. Ideally, the new owner already has experience specifically with northern breeds, because Dandy is strong, large and active - a big responsibility. Would happily live in a private house with a secure fence, but would also consider apartment offers if the owner is determined enough. Knows basic commands and ready to learn more and more. Because of his treats, he will do anything. It has been more than a year now since Dandijs has been in the shelter...

LV·Show original

About Dandijs

What life with Dandijs looks like

Dandijs is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele in Latvia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dandijs, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dandijs?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dandijs on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dandijs if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dandijs already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dandijs isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dandijs and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
