How do I contact the shelter about Dante?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Skałowo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dante on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Dante if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Skałowo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Dante already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Dante isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Skałowo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dante and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Dante

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Dante arrived at our shelter from Komorniki. Unfortunately, due to family reasons, he found himself in a shelter in his later years. Although this is a huge change for him, Dante is not going to give up. Every time he leaves his kennel, it is a small celebration for him - he enjoys the walk, the presence of a human and the opportunity to spend even a moment outside the shelter reality. He is a friendly, sympathetic dog who would very much like to feel that he belongs to someone. Dante is able to maintain cleanliness and knows the rules of the house, which is why we hope that he will soon exchange the shelter kennel for his own bed. Dante gets along with dogs, but does not accept cats - so in his future home, cat tenants are not an option. We are looking for a home for Dante, where he will become a member of the family again, not just a dog who lives next door. A home where his age will not be a hindrance, but a reason to give him a beautiful, peaceful time by the side of a human. Dante has lost his home once before. Now he really needs someone to show him that it was not the end of his story. Dante is waiting. Maybe it's for you?

PL·Show original

Dante czeka. Może właśnie na Ciebie?

About Dante

What life with Dante looks like

Dante is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Skałowo in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.
