Dark is a cat around 5 years old who arrived at our shelter after being found in a local feline colony in conditions that immediately raised concern. He had a deep abrasion on his head and a severe otitis that caused him pain and discomfort. Thanks to the reporting of attentive and sensitive people, it was possible to intervene promptly and offer him the care he urgently needed. From the first days, it was clear that Dark did not only carry the physical signs of the difficulties he had experienced. He is a very fearful cat, wary of people and always ready to keep his distance. Probably life on the streets and past experiences have taught him not to trust humans easily. Today, Dark is followed daily by our volunteers and veterinarians who are taking care of his recovery. The wounds are healing, the otitis is under control, and slowly we are trying to help him understand that not all hands bring pain. Every small progress, a less frightened gaze or a shorter distance, represents for us a great victory. His story reminds us once again how important it is to combat abandonment and promote sterilization, fundamental tools to reduce the number of cats forced to live in situations of risk and suffering. Our desire is that Dark can one day overcome his fears and find a patient family, capable of respecting his times and giving him the serenity he deserves. Dark, quegli occhi verdi che fanno innamorare Quando Dark è arrivato al rifugio, era in condizioni davvero difficili. Era tutto sbucciato e pieno di ferite, probabilmente a causa delle continue lotte con altri gatti. Non era stato sterilizzato e, vivendo all’esterno, si ritrovava spesso coinvolto in combattimenti per il territorio e per le femmine. Le ferite del corpo, però, erano solo una parte della sua storia. Dark aveva bisogno di sicurezza, cure e soprattutto di qualcuno che si prendesse finalmente cura di lui. Lo abbiamo curato, nutrito e seguito con pazienza. Oggi è completamente rinato: sta bene, è bellissimo, dolcissimo e incredibilmente coccolone. E poi ci sono i suoi occhi… due splendidi occhi verdi che sembrano incantare chiunque li incontri. La storia di Dark ci ricorda ancora una volta quanto sia importante la sterilizzazione. Sterilizzare i gatti significa ridurre il numero di cucciolate indesiderate, prevenire il randagismo e diminuire anche molti dei comportamenti legati alla ricerca delle femmine, come allontanamenti, lotte e conseguenti ferite. È una scelta di responsabilità che può salvare vite e prevenire tanta sofferenza. Dark oggi ha lasciato alle spalle le sue battaglie e sta aspettando qualcosa di molto più bello: una famiglia da amare e da cui essere amato. È un gatto speciale, pronto a riempire una casa di fusa, coccole e affetto. Ora gli manca solo qualcuno che si innamori di lui quanto noi ci siamo innamorati del suo carattere e di quegli incredibili occhi verdi.
