Adopt Dasha

Female · Puppy · 4 months

In mid-February 2026, these two puppy sisters were found in Campagna. At the time, they were just slightly over two months old. They were brought to Canile Arzachena, where it was immediately determined that one of Dasha's front legs was not in good condition. We arranged for her to be thoroughly examined, and a congenital elbow dislocation was diagnosed. It was deemed necessary to operate on her as soon as possible. Since Dasha was not yet ready for travel, we had to decide to have her operated on in Sardinia. After the operation, Dasha then went into a private foster home, as the necessary post-operative care could not be provided at Canile. Darby stayed at Canile Arzachena, and she developed well. When the puppies Carolina, Carlotta, Camilla, and Corinna moved from private care with Loredana to Canile, Darby was placed with them. Unfortunately, Dasha soon showed problems. The operation did not yield the desired result, and we will likely have to operate on her again. We hope that the second operation will be more successful. However, it is not certain that Dasha's leg will function fully, and some limitation in movement will remain. Both Darby and Dasha are very loving and friendly. Dasha is already familiar with many aspects of "normal" life through her loving private foster home. Darby and Dasha are now allowed to travel to Germany as quickly as possible so that they can find their people who will give them a forever home. Would you like to take Darby or Dasha into your family and give them a happy and healthy dog life? April 23, 2026: The little Dasha made it: On April 23, she was allowed to travel to Germany and has now arrived in a foster home in Augsburg. Her front leg continues to cause her problems, and she will soon be presented to a specialist. We hope that we can find a way to help her so that she can live freely and without pain. Despite everything, the little mouse has preserved her joie de vivre and is simply a wonderful puppy that now has the chance to receive the best possible medical care. As soon as we know more, we will of course report back. If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption means not only a lot of joy but also work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We provide nationwide support.

About Dasha

What life with Dasha looks like

Dasha is a large puppy/kitten dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dasha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dasha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dasha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dasha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dasha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dasha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dasha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
