Adopt Delon

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 3 months

The beautiful Delon has been in the shelter for a very, very long time. A man brought him and claimed he would hunt his chickens. We viewed this statement with great skepticism, as Delon is one of the dogs who never reacts to birds, neither in his crate nor during walks. But since this is a commonly used excuse to give up dogs, it's probably just a story from Paulanergarten.Delon gets along well with everyone. He has no problems with male or female dogs. He loves people and enjoys every cuddle. I gave Delon his name because he was so beautiful, and still is. A funny fact is that Delon actually has an extraordinary attraction to other dogs, especially female dogs. Many dogs have hearts in their eyes when near him. So, he didn't get his name by chance. His effect on the ladies is undeniable. Delon is a calm dog. He is not pushy, but also not shy. From his appearance, one might assume he has Labrador in his background. His temperament matches this assumption. Anyone looking for a calm and friendly dog by their side will find the perfect candidate in Delon.Info:What does it mean that the dog is not yet ready for adoption? Our dogs are regularly vaccinated according to regulations. Rabies vaccination is done annually in Serbia. To transport dogs from Serbia, which is now a listed third country, into the EU, they need a corresponding rabies titer. This measures whether there are enough antibodies against rabies in the blood. For Serbia, the titer certificate must be at least three months old upon entry into the EU. Since titers can be expensive, not all dogs have the certificate, but it is only done when needed. When a dog is adopted, it can take up to three months until it is ready for adoption. Blood is taken from the dog and sent to the lab. This is also the reason why our dogs are only available for adoption, or ready for adoption, at the earliest at eight months old.

About Delon

What life with Delon looks like

Delon is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad in Aachen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Delon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Delon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Delon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Delon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Delon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Delon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad early rather than rehoming privately; they know Delon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
