adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Demelza is currently living in a Romanian foster home and waiting there for her own home. She shows friendliness and approachability towards people and seeks contact. She is a real eye-catcher optically. Her dense fur, the distinctive marking on her face, and her unusually bright eyes suggest that a Husky might be in her. With about 25 kilograms and a shoulder height of around 50 to 55 centimeters, she brings a beautiful, athletic size. If a Husky is indeed in her, she might also bring some breed-specific traits. Huskies are usually active, intelligent, and independent dogs that require both physical and mental stimulation and like to be active with their people. In general, Demelza gets along well with other dogs. Whether she knows cats, we unfortunately do not know. At about two years old, she has already gone through puberty. Nevertheless, her future family should be aware that Demelza probably does not yet know the life in a stable home. Many everyday things therefore need to be shown to her in peace and taught. Leash training, house cleanliness, and being left alone are probably still new to her. She needs people who show her with patience, clear guidance, and understanding how living with humans works. A visit to a positively working dog training class can be a good support and at the same time help to build the bond between human and dog. Demelza is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be adopted after a positive assessment. We would also be very happy to have her in a foster home. Who will give Demelza a loving home and accompany her on her further journey? Many thanks to her namesake, Jana, who gave Demelza her name. As of: 07.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Demelza

What life with Demelza looks like

Demelza is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Demelza, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Demelza?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Demelza on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Demelza if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Demelza already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Demelza isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Demelza and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
