For charities like us, having sufficient money to keep going is a daily concern. We are here for horses – but only if/when our finances allow. We must budget for an average sum in the region of £200 per month, for each and every one of the horses and ponies under our care.Unscheduled veterinary work and essential training, places a further strain on our resources. Please sponsor Denzil and help us be able, to continue opening our doors to ponies like him.The story so far...We received a call from Durham County Council Wardens with regard to an abandoned pony on council land.Denzil duly arrived safe and sound, albeit a little dazed and confused. The necessary abandonment process was followed and with no owner coming forward, he officially became a Here4Horses resident.Denzil stayed on site for a long time, before his services were required by our supporter Sara Metcalfe, who was looking to foster a companion for one of her

About Denzil

What life with Denzil looks like

Denzil is a medium-sized senior horse waiting at Here4Horses in United Kingdom.

Adopting a horse is a long-term commitment that almost always requires either land or a boarding stable. The shelter will discuss the horse's training level, vet history, and what kind of work or companionship they're suited for. Expect ongoing costs: feed, farrier, vet, and stabling.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Denzil, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Denzil?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Here4Horses handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Denzil on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Denzil if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a horse can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Here4Horses what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Denzil already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a horse comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Here4Horses directly what is included and what Denzil still needs.
What happens if Denzil isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Here4Horses early rather than rehoming privately; they know Denzil and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
