Adopt Diagnose FIP

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Baby · 4 months

A feared disease among cat owners is feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), which always ends fatally if left untreated and is caused by a mutation of the feline coronavirus. In recent years, Tierhilfe Weidenberg has lost countless kittens and young cats to this insidious disease. However, there has been great hope for some time: the treatment with the drug "GS-441524," which has not yet been officially approved on the market, but in a study by LMU Munich achieved groundbreaking successes: after the end of the study, a 100 percent survival rate could be demonstrated (18 treated cats suffering from FIP) (source: ). We have also been able to gain initial experience with this medication. The diagnosis of our lively Rhonda hit us like a lightning bolt. However, it quickly became clear that we wanted to take up the fight against this "evil demon" FIP. For the first two weeks, our girl had to endure painful injections and could only be kept happy with lots of love and treats. The switch to oral administration in tablet form made the treatment easier. Then another shock: Rhonda suddenly had at least six tumor-like lumps throughout her abdomen. The thought of breast cancer immediately came to our minds. Thankfully, the initial suspicion was reversed into a harmless finding (feline fibroadenomatosis = hormonally influenced disease of the mammary gland), which could be quickly addressed with the spaying of Rhonda. The GS therapy could be continued after the procedure. And now the positive news: Rhonda is now in the three-month waiting period. All values are within the normal range, she is very cheerful and enjoying life. We hope that she will be considered cured in 12 weeks and would like to encourage all cat owners to stand up to this disease. A prompt approval of the medicine is needed.

About Diagnose FIP

What life with Diagnose FIP looks like

Diagnose FIP is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed animal waiting at Tierhilfe Weidenberg in Germany.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Diagnose FIP far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Diagnose FIP, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Diagnose FIP?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Weidenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Diagnose FIP on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Diagnose FIP if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Weidenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Diagnose FIP already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Diagnose FIP isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Weidenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Diagnose FIP and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
