Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 9 years

On September 26, 2017, we were called to a standalone restaurant in the Bayreuth district. For several weeks, stray cats had been fed there to facilitate a capture operation. The cats were lured into a room in the basement with food, where our volunteer helpers secured them using nets and scratch- and bite-proof gloves. A total of 10 cats were captured, including 4 kittens aged 6 to 10 weeks (who will now be placed in our foster homes and are waiting for new bottle openers) and 6 older and very feral animals that will be released back at the feeding station after castration and necessary veterinary care. Unfortunately, this was not the only one of our capture operations this summer; similar operations with even more cats are ongoing, and we are often called to individual found animals or mother cats with kittens.

About Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion

What life with Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion looks like

Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierhilfe Weidenberg in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Weidenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Weidenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Weidenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Große Katzenfang- und -kastrationsaktion and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
