adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Dima can travel directly to your final destination! Her story: Bistrita, Romania. The beautiful Dima with the tricolor fur pattern and sweet floppy ears is completely overwhelmed by the loud shelter life. She sits in her cramped pen and barely dares to step out of the hut. The noise, the other dogs, and the confinement are too much for her. When she is allowed to go into the yard for a short time, she blossoms and even makes play invitations. When we visited her in the shelter in October, we promised to find her a wonderful home and take her out of there! Dima is approximately 2.5 to 3 years old and has a nice medium size, measuring around 50-55cm. Dima is a real beauty, but also very shy and she currently only allows herself to be touched cautiously, showing no aggression. With treats, she becomes more curious, and especially the quark has her very interested! For this, she even came to the fence and took everything from our hands. She has a lot of potential that lies dormant in Dima. Because the day will come when her curiosity will win. We wish a loving, calm, and empathetic home for the beautiful Dima, where she can gradually forget her past. Dima needs an individual adjustment period and people who can show her what trust and love mean. Dima does not know this and has probably never led an appropriate life. She therefore needs to learn many things besides basic trust. With the right people by her side, she will surely do well. Dima wishes for a home in the countryside, as city life is nothing for the sensitive female dog. She should have little hustle and bustle and as few changing trusted people as possible. Dima is content and does not need many people around her.

About Dima

What life with Dima looks like

Dima is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dima, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dima?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dima on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dima if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dima already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dima isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dima and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
