Dimitri

Male · Kitten

Dimitri came to our shelter as a seizure animal. Now the little cat is looking for a new forever home. Dimitri is a young kitten with a loving and affectionate nature. He is open and approachable towards people and enjoys attention and petting. At the same time, he already has a confident demeanor and curiously explores his surroundings. As a typical juvenile, Dimitri is playful, lively and full of energy. He loves to romp, play and discover his world. In doing so, he needs sufficient exercise and social contacts in order to develop well. Dimitri is house-trained and shows himself uncomplicated in everyday life. A quiet, safe environment is important for him, where he can arrive and grow up protected. He will only be placed with or to a same-aged and same-sex companion animal, as he needs social contact with conspecifics. A pure apartment keeping with secured balcony is a prerequisite so that he can safely enjoy fresh air and observe his surroundings. We are looking for a loving home for Dimitri with people who enjoy accompanying a young cat's life, giving him time to learn and providing him with a safe, stable environment. If you would like to give Dimitri a loving home, please send your completed self-disclosure (for the address JavaScript must be enabled). 01.07.2026

About Dimitri

What life with Dimitri looks like

Dimitri is a puppy/kitten cat waiting at Hamburger Tierschutzverein in Hamburg.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dimitri, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dimitri?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hamburger Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dimitri on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dimitri if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hamburger Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dimitri already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dimitri isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hamburger Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dimitri and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
