Grammi

British Shorthair · Female · Adult · 7 years

Grammi came to our shelter as a seizure animal. Now the female cat is looking for a new forever home. Grammi is a cat with a very reserved and calm nature. She appears anxious and shy and therefore needs a home where she won't be pressured. Hectic, loud noises or a turbulent daily routine would probably not do her any good. Instead we wish for her a quiet environment where she can structure her day at her own pace. Grammi is housebroken and already knows how to interact with other cats. Therefore a home with a social, calm cat would be feasible in principle. Whether she seeks contact with people or prefers to keep her distance cannot be predicted. That's why we are looking for people who accept her as she is and have no expectations that she will quickly become affectionate. She needs people with patience, understanding and respect for her boundaries. It is important that she can decide herself when and if she wants to make contact. Even though she may never be a typical cuddly cat, she deserves a home where she feels safe and can simply be a cat. Whoever wants to give Grammi a loving home with plenty of peace, patience and empathy will give her the chance at a life without stress and with the freedom to go her own way. If you want to give Grammi a loving home please send your completed self-assessment form (for the address JavaScript must be enabled).

About Grammi

What life with Grammi looks like

Grammi is a adult british shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Hamburg in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Grammi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Grammi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hamburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Grammi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Grammi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hamburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Grammi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Grammi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hamburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Grammi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
