Disco

Greyhound · Male · Adult · 8 years

Disco is looking for a home with loving and active adopters who can take him on sniffy adventures, who will take the time to help him settle in and give him all the love and attention he deserves. He is a friendly bean who could live with primary school children who are confident with larger, goofy dogs, children who will play with him nicely and will give him space to rest when needed. Disco could live with another dog of a similar size, preferably another sighthound who will happily co-exist and engage in occasional play, although living with another dog is not a necessity, he would be happy with polite walking buddies. He has some training under his belt and is currently doing muzzle training as he will need to be on a lead and muzzle at all time is public due to a high chase drive. Disco can settle nicely so could be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Disco will need to meet his adopters a few times prior to going home so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Disco by name, Disco by nature! This 8 year old Greyhound is a one dog party! He is a super fun, goofy guy who loves to zoom and play in short bursts, don’t let his age fool you, he is full of life! He will then crash out and lay down with his fluffy toy in tow. He does the typical Greyhound lean for a fuss and will happily let you give him back scratches whilst watching the world go by. This super noodle is ready to find his new home.

About Disco

What life with Disco looks like

Disco is a adult greyhound dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Disco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Disco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Disco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Disco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Disco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Disco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Disco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
