Bowie

Yorkshire Terrier · Male · Adult · 6 years

Bowie is looking for a home with his best friend Amelie as they are a bonded pair. They are both looking for a calm and predictable home with loving, friendly adopters. They could live with secondary school children who can give them the space when they need it. They both love exploring on their walks and enjoy socialising with other dogs but much prefer the company of eachother when at home. They could have the occasional calm visiting dog to the home if they have met them out and about beforehand. Bowie and Amelie could potentially live in a home with no garden or communal. They can both settle nicely alone so could be left for up to 4 hours. Bowie and Amelia will need to meet their adopters a couple of times prior to going home so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come up to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted. Fun guy Bowie and his best friend amazing Amelie are a 7 Year old Yorkie Cross and 7 Year old Cockapoo. They both loves toys and will happily chases around after them, they will sometimes bring them back for another throw. Both Bowie and Amelie are very friendly with everyone they meet. Bowie gains a lot of confidence from his best bud Amelie so are looking for a home who can be patient with them as they settle in and find their feet together! They love to be out exploring or at home cuddling on the sofa in equal measure. These gorgeous pooches are looking their forever home - could this be you?

About Bowie

What life with Bowie looks like

Bowie is a adult yorkshire terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bowie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bowie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bowie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bowie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bowie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bowie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bowie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
