Adopt Djaika

Labradoodle · Female · Adult · 7 years

I am Djaika … and I am looking for a home that can give me a lot of time and integrate me fully into their life. I am: As I very much dislike being alone and without my own people, I currently have to live on a foster home. There, I have settled in very well and am a real treasure – I conquer hearts with ease! I love long walks and have no issues with other dogs during these walks. I enjoy being outdoors a lot and am currently enjoying it very much with my loving foster family, both inside and outside. The children next door behind the fence are okay for me – the children there like me and do not stress me out. When adults pass by outside, I do bark and alert them, but I calm down quickly when it becomes clear that my people know the person(s). I am very patient and hard to startle, even sleeping when the vacuum cleaner is running next to me. Brushing and showering are also no problem for me. Overall, I am looking for proximity at a distance – I am not super clingy and mostly just want to be in the vicinity of my people. I can open doors and have already successfully demonstrated this to create this proximity. Getting used to driving is something I still need to do, and this could also apply to public transportation. I do not like being alone at all and show this with strong fears and stress reactions. This must be practiced with me in very small steps – ideally, I can always be there or someone in the household can always have time for me. I wish for … a home that can give me a lot of time – ideally, at least 2-3 people where someone is always there for me; maybe possible with a home office, etc. I am not at all happy without my dearest ones and have large loss anxieties. Of course, a house with a garden would be wonderful (but not a must). Who would like to be with me forever? Please contact me if you are interested – I would be thrilled.

About Djaika

What life with Djaika looks like

Djaika is a large adult labradoodle dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Djaika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Djaika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Djaika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Djaika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Djaika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Djaika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin early rather than rehoming privately; they know Djaika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
