Dobi

Dachshund · Male · Adult · 5 years

Dobi had a home and a family in Hungary. Unfortunately, they moved and couldn't take Dobi with them. Now he is waiting in Germany for a new family. Dobi is house-trained and friendly. He gets along with other dogs, but it depends on the dog's personality with male dogs. Dobi would be happy to finally meet his new family and can be visited. Please only apply for a dog if you can adopt him soon! Foster homes are not long-term accommodations - foster homes can't "reserve" dogs for several weeks or months. It's also important for dogs to move quickly to their permanent home, as they increasingly settle in at the foster home, which can make a later change more difficult and is not necessary if a home is found. Also, foster home spots are urgently needed, because many dogs are waiting in Hungary, who can then move in. Thank you for your understanding and support for the dogs!

DE·Show original

Dobi hatte in Ungarn ein Zuhause und eine Familie. Diese zog leider um und konnte Dobi nicht mitnehmen. Nun wartet er in Deutschland auf eine neue Familie. Dobi ist Stubenrein und freundlich. Mit anderen Hunden verträglich, nur bei Rüden entscheidet die Sympathie. Auch Dobi würde sich freuen endlich seine neue Familie begrüßen zu können und darf selbstverständlich besucht werden. Bitte bewerbt euch nur für einen Hund, wenn ihr ihn auch zeitnah adoptieren könnt! Pflegestellen sind keine langfristigen Unterbringungsorte – die Pflegestellen können Hunde nicht über mehrere Wochen oder gar Monate „reservieren“. Für die Hunde ist zudem ein schneller Umzug ins endgültige Zuhause wichtig, da sie sich zunehmend auf der Pflegestelle einleben, was einen späteren Wechsel erschweren kann und nicht notwendig ist, wenn ein Zuhause gefunden ist. Außerdem werden die Pflegestellenplätze dringend benötigt, denn es warten viele Hunde in Ungarn, die dann nachrücken können. Vielen Dank für euer Verständnis und eure Unterstützung im Sinne der Hunde! RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_1b6362a1"); RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_32a5c08d");

About Dobi

What life with Dobi looks like

Dobi is a medium-sized adult dachshund dog waiting at Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. in Marsberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dobi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dobi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dobi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dobi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dobi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dobi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dobi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
