Adopt Domingo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Domingo, our wolfdog boy, was rescued in a large rescue operation along with 32 other dogs from the city killing in Barlad. Domingo is not only handsome but was also directly friendly, allowing the animal protectors to pet him, even in the enclosure itself, he did not back away from the two unfamiliar women but behaved confidently. Domingo is an active, open-minded, and balanced fellow. The gentle look from the friendly male dog’s brown eyes says: please get me out of here! It’s so terribly boring in here! Domingo lives amicably with fellow animals (including Boomer) in the shelter and gets along well with the cats living in the animal shelter. Unfortunately, the handsome male dog cannot live up to his nature in the shelter at all. Observing this is very bitter! One can see how longingly he waits for an escape ticket and hopes! Domingo is a sporty, freedom-loving type who is currently confined in a small enclosure, without walks, without ever feeling grass under his paws, without running and playing, daily observing the same view through bars. The affectionate four-legged friend would much rather explore the world outside and spend time as an active companion with his people. Who will help the handsome Domingo to a dignified life and enable his departure from the dreary animal shelter? Update13.03.2026 new pictures, new video. A colleague from the Vereins was on site and reports: Domingo observed me curiously and with interest. If you approach calmly and not from above, he lets himself be gently stroked and enjoys the attention. A sensitive dog with a lot of potential for trust. 12.11.2025 new pictures and photos30.10.2025 new video, with Boomer28.07.2025 new video02.06.2025 new pictures, videos. About Domingo

What life with Domingo looks like

Domingo is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Domingo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Domingo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Domingo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Domingo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Domingo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Domingo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Domingo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
