Don Schiliione

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 1 year

Don Schillione was found. The young slender tomcat is actually quite nice, but he is a bit anxious or skittish and doesn't approach everyone right away. With treats, however, he can be quite tempted and he enjoys being stroked. However, he is (so far) not really a lap cat, but seems a bit restless, which is probably due to the shelter environment. Here, there is always some unrest due to the barking of the dogs and the changing visitors. Don Schillione gets along very well with other cats and could therefore also be introduced as a second cat to an existing Velvet Paw. He is not suitable for small children; a quiet home would definitely suit him better. After an adaptation period of about 4 weeks, Don Schillione should again be given the opportunity to go outside occasionally in his new home. DE·Show original

About Don Schiliione

What life with Don Schiliione looks like

Don Schiliione is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Darmstadt in Darmstadt.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Don Schiliione, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Don Schiliione?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Darmstadt handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Don Schiliione on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Don Schiliione if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Darmstadt will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Don Schiliione already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Don Schiliione isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Darmstadt early rather than rehoming privately; they know Don Schiliione and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
