Adopt Donald

Mixed Breed Cat · Male

Hello everyone! I am Donald, the most handsome boy you will ever meet. If you have visited recently, you will have probably seen me in reception snoozing, or maybe I have jumped on your knee for a cuddle. This is very likely – I love snuggling on a warm lap when I’m not exploring outside. My personality: I am a nice boy, who spends my time either exploring outdoors or snoozing away with the humans here at Rain. I can be very independent at times but I do like human attention – I often meow at the team to jump on their lap and show them some of my best headbutts while purring away. The fussing is usually on my terms. Oh, and I love catnip! My ideal home: I would be happy with a home where I can come and go as I please, with lots of land for me to explore. I need to be in a home without any children or other pets, and with humans who are cat-savvy. Surely someone out there will love me? Access to outdoors: I need access to the outdoors, once I have settled in of course. I do like to potter around and explore but I do spend a lot of my time snoozing and loving my humans. Toileting: I am litter trained, and do prefer wood chip litter. Did you know: The farm cat, also known as a barn cat, is a domestic cat, usually of mixed breed, that lives primarily outdoors. Please will you adopt me? My adoption fee has been reduced and is only £25 because I’ve been around for so long! Hopefully this will help find somebody that wants to adopt me, but I’m starting to get very down, thinking it may never happen.

About Donald

What life with Donald looks like

Donald is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Rain Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Donald, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Donald?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rain Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Donald on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Donald if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rain Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Donald already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Donald isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rain Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Donald and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
