Dottie

Whippet · Female · Young · 2 years

Dottie may be young, but she’s already been through a lot of change in her life. Due to this she finds it very difficult to be on her own and settling in somewhere new takes longer than most. Despite this, she is the sweetest girl you could hope to meet and has so much love to give. In the home, Dottie is incredibly affectionate and will happily shower her people with cuddles and love. Out and about, she’s just as charming! Everyone she meets is greeted with the same joyful enthusiasm. Dottie’s favourite place to be is snuggled up close to her favourite humans, whether that’s curled beside you on the sofa or tucked up happily in bed. All Dottie needs now is a calm, understanding home where she can be given plenty of time to settle in at her own pace. In return, you’ll gain a loyal, loving best friend who will adore you completely. Dottie is a very affectionate two-year-old Whippet cross looking for a calm, patient home where someone is around all of the time to help her settle into her new surroundings. She would love to be the only dog in the home, but could enjoy a few regular walking friends to build her confidence with. Dottie can live with sensible secondary school-aged children who understand dogs and can give her space when she needs it, but also aren't worried by a dog who likes to jump up to say hello. She finds being left difficult and much prefers to be snuggled up as close to you as possible. Her ideal home would also have a secure garden where she can enjoy zoomies and relax in the sunshine.

About Dottie

What life with Dottie looks like

Dottie is a young adult whippet dog waiting at Dogs Trust Snetterton in Snetterton.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dottie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dottie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Snetterton handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dottie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dottie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Snetterton will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dottie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dottie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Snetterton early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dottie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
