Dotty

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Dotty lived on the streets and regularly came to our colleague's house where she was fed. A busy road and a railway line run nearby. Many dogs have been run over there. As soon as we had a place available, we could take Dotty in. She settled in quickly and has been living with the other dogs since the first day. She plays with them and enjoys their company. She also gets along well with her cage mate. Conflicts have not been observed so far. Dotty meets people openly and friendly. She shows herself gentle and calm and is both adult and child-oriented. She takes touches and care all over her body relaxed. So far, no defensive behavior has been observed with food. Due to her previous life, Dotty is familiar with traffic noises. A harness has not yet been tried. Getting used to it and walking on a leash are therefore things she still needs to learn. For Dotty, we are looking for people who will clearly and reliably guide her from the start, give her orientation and gradually accustom her to everyday life in her new home. Dotty will be spayed, vaccinated, chipped, dewormed and de-fleaed, and will be handed over with an EU pet passport.

About Dotty

What life with Dotty looks like

Dotty is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dotty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dotty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dotty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dotty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Dotty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dotty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dotty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
