DUNCAN

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Duncan: We took him in along with nine other dogs from a place where they hardly ever saw people. Confined to a pen with many other dogs and never going outside, he became a sad and fearful dog. He's been with us for 15 months and is now ready to find his new forever home. He's still shy until you get to know him, but he knows what pets and leashes are for walks... he's happy and content and his expression has changed 100%. He's now curious and wants to see new things. He needs a calm family that will give him peace and security. He's never had a bad attitude towards humans or dogs and his grateful look will touch your heart. He's a male, medium size, waiting for his second chance.

About DUNCAN

What life with DUNCAN looks like

DUNCAN is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ASCAN Madrid in Madrid.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting DUNCAN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about DUNCAN?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ASCAN Madrid handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw DUNCAN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt DUNCAN if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ASCAN Madrid will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is DUNCAN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if DUNCAN isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ASCAN Madrid early rather than rehoming privately; they know DUNCAN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
