Dunja

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Friendly, compatible, agile, lively Dunja is a compact female dog in her prime, aged approximately 4.5 years and weighing 10 kg, who is waiting to give her heart away again. Dunja already had a home. She lived there in a group of five female dogs. But fate struck hard. Her family became homeless and could no longer care for the dogs. To spare the five girls a life on the street, they were reluctantly given up. Now Dunja is safe with us and ready for chapter two of her life! Dunja is an absolute treasure. Since she comes from a family, she already knows what it's like to live in a house. She is not a shy dog, but rather an open, friendly and very compatible lady dog, both with people and with fellow animals. However, if you are looking for a couch potato, you are at the wrong address. The little lady is agile, fit and active. She may currently have a little too much "hip fat", but she is highly motivated to work on her bikini figure. She wants to run, jump, play with dog friends and go nice walks. Dunja is looking for active people who are seeking a loyal companion for all adventures. Whether long walks, playtime in the garden or mental exercises, Dunja is there! She also likes children around her. She has everything it takes to become an absolute dream dog. Perhaps Dunja's loss was the starting signal for a new and safe life in Germany. They are all vaccinated, microchipped and have an EU certificate. They are checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog that is placed makes room for one of those dogs that have to struggle through life hungry and emaciated.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Dunja

What life with Dunja looks like

Dunja is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dunja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dunja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dunja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dunja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dunja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dunja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dunja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
