Dutch

Labrador Retriever · Unknown · Adult · 8 years

BIRTH DATE: 01/12/2017 BREED: Labrador Retriever mix CHARACTER: This is a puppy that has had a very hard time. He lived tied up and mistreated, which is why he came with fear and needed to regain trust in people. Thanks to his foster home, despite everything he experienced, he has been gaining confidence and gets along well in a family setting, including with children. He needs a quiet environment, as that is the environment he is living in. He does not get along well with other dogs. And he is not compatible with cats. He is a happy puppy with energy for sharing good walks and excursions. A great life companion. With the little time of life he was rescued with, Dutch only knew the malice and indifference of humanity. Tied up all day and mistreated, now we have to give him the chance to be happy. To recover from everything he experienced and find a family that gives him the life he deserves. Are you willing to give him a chance?

About Dutch

What life with Dutch looks like

Dutch is a adult labrador retriever dog waiting at SOS Golden in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dutch, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dutch?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS Golden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dutch on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dutch if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS Golden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dutch already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dutch isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS Golden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dutch and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
