Dżambo

Male · Senior · 11 years

Jambo, also known as Dżemik, arrived at our shelter severely emaciated and dehydrated. The little dog has since recovered beautifully; he’s in great spirits and has become very trusting and open toward people. He’s a cheerful senior with surprisingly high energy levels. He loves to leave his kennel, happily prances along on walks, sniffs around, explores—and even pulls eagerly on the leash just to see more of the world. He’s familiar with the streets and doesn’t react to passing cars. He does bark at cyclists and pedestrians, so we wouldn’t recommend him for homes located in busy, crowded areas. He generally has no trouble adjusting to new environments, and in the house he’s even tried to jump onto the sofa. He enjoys nibbling soft treats right out of your hand. He doesn’t like returning from walks, and if you take too long getting ready for a walk, he’ll nudge you with barks—showing his personality in a firm yet gentle way. Despite his age, he remains a wonderful companion, full of life and still deeply curious about the world around him. We’re looking for a stable home with a calm human companion for his retirement years—a home that might seem quiet and relaxed on the surface, but is actually lively and full of activity.

PL·Show original

Mimo wieku to wspaniały kompan nadal pełen życia i zainteresowany światem dookoła. Poszukuje stabilnego domu ze spokojnym ludzkim towarzyszem na emeryckie życie – wbrew pozorom żwawe i pełne ruchu.

About Dżambo

What life with Dżambo looks like

Dżambo is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dżambo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dżambo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dżambo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dżambo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dżambo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dżambo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dżambo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
