Adopt Džo

Mixed Breed · Male

DJO - a puppy on the way to courage Džo - very young, slightly unsure, cautious, but charming and sweet. By the fence he really tries to show his bravery and fearlessness - that means he knows exactly what he wants to be! And Džo is on the way to that! He is looking for someone who will help him overcome his insecurity, because Džo really wants to trust and not be afraid - just need to help him open up! With tiny steps he is already managing it! And he is very happy about that. Joy also for us and all his friends. It would be best if in the new home there was already a friendly dog = friend = good example = playmate and prank partner. Together it's safer and more fun. And less anxiety about doing things wrong, which Džo takes very hard. We know that Džo's owners will be lively and people who love challenges, who will always come up with new and unusual ways to convince the cautious Džo to confidently enter the human inhabited world. Because Džo - even though he was born and raised in the big city of Riga, he only really understands human abandoned and degraded places - the Ziepniekkalns gardens, the life of the bombs, the trampled areas and so on. A sad witness and victim of life's sadness... But now Džo is on new tracks and with a new inspiration - he knows that he can be the star of his own home and yard! By the way, his real little brother, half-brothers, half-sisters and beloved mother are already living their lives in good homes. Some of Džo even know that despite his simple, "not fancy" look, they have gone to live abroad. This very inspires the sprightly, sparkling boy from Ziepniekkalns garden Džo to show himself at his best - he can, he also deserves this opportunity! We all together are waiting and believe that the opportunity will come very soon! Because we don't want to betray our Džo - the brave one with protective armor of caution! He is really waiting. If you can't give him a home, please support the maintenance of Džo and the other residents of shelter - we can only implement the no-kill principle together with like-minded people. Džo has been in Ulubelē for more than a year. It is a satisfaction - to help those who cannot take care of themselves.

About Džo

What life with Džo looks like

Džo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele in Latvia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

Frequently asked

Adopting Džo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Džo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Džo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Džo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Džo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Džo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele early rather than rehoming privately; they know Džo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
