Eberhard

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Location: Romania, OrastieGender: Male, neuteredBorn: approx. 2020/2021Character: Social towards fellow cats—no solitary living! People-oriented and cuddly.Special feature: Eberhard was found injured and in poor condition on the street. May I introduce myself? I’m Eberhard, and as a former street cat, I’ve been through quite a lot—and unfortunately, not much of it was good. Life on the streets is really tough. You have to search laboriously for food, watch out not to get hit by cars, hide from roaming dogs, and then there are all those rivalries with other cats. One day, I was so badly injured that a animal welfare volunteer who regularly feeds us street cats noticed me. She took me to the vet. I had many wounds and was extremely infested with parasites. I probably wouldn’t have survived much longer like that. Luckily, from then on, I received help. I was cared for and had to take medication for some time. From then on, I was allowed to live at a foster home—and I still can’t believe it, because everything here is so peaceful! I feel really comfortable in the apartment and can finally relax. And I get lots of petting here—it feels so good! All I’m missing now is a real forever home where I can stay permanently. And once I’ve found that, there’ll be another spot available here for another poor soul who’s desperately in need of shelter. In my future home, I’d love to have a compatible feline companion. I could even bring someone from here along if you don’t already have a cat. After all, despite my past experiences on the streets, I’m very social. I get along great with the lovely cats here at the foster home. I’ve already been neutered, received my first vaccinations against cat flu and cat plague, been dewormed and flea-treated, and when I travel to you, I’ll also receive a microchip and a rabies vaccination. I’ll also be tested for FIV and FeLV. You can find all this information in my EU pet passport. Then my adoption coordinator will get in touch with you. So please get in touch! Your Eberhard

Also bitte melde dich! Dein Eberhard

About Eberhard

What life with Eberhard looks like

Eberhard is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Seelenkatzen e.V. in Barsinghausen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eberhard, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eberhard?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelenkatzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eberhard on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eberhard if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelenkatzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eberhard already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eberhard isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelenkatzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eberhard and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
