adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Egon has found his people! His story: Wunderschöner young tomcat searches for a loving new family. This beautiful young tomcat named Egon is a British Shorthair mix and longs for a loving family that will take him in. So far, the young tomcat hasn't had an easy life, as he was sick with FIP and his previous owner wanted to put him down. Fortunately, Egon was treated against the disease and is now completely healthy and ready to start a new life. Now that Egon is back in good spirits, he is searching for a new home. This might not be too difficult for him, as he has a very friendly and loving personality. Additionally, he is very playful. At least, if he is asked to be. Egon is preferably rehomed in single housing, as he does not necessarily get along well with every one of his fellow animals. Furthermore, he can only be rehomed as a pure indoor cat. Over a cat-safe netted balcony, where he can survey his new kingdom, he would certainly be very happy.

About Egon

What life with Egon looks like

Egon is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Egon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Egon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Egon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Egon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Egon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Egon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Egon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
