Eisenherz &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

The handsome tomcat Eisenherz – Paten gesucht ! was found in November 2020 in a closed transport box. In December 2020, Eisenherz – Paten gesucht ! was allowed to move into a new home for the first time, but had to return in January 2021 because he kept challenging and attacking his then owner. Since April 2021, Eisenherz – Paten gesucht ! has been living in a foster home where he will stay for the rest of his life. There, he can finally enjoy his life. He is now playful and gets along well with his new partner Ellie. He also likes to snuggle and sleeps in bed with his "new mom." New people and visitors still scare him, but that is getting better. Due to kidney insufficiency, he often has to visit the vet and needs special food (which is not exactly cheap), we are now looking for a food guardian for the little man. The food for him is Royal Canin Renal (for cats with kidney insufficiency) and costs around 80€ per month. Do you have an interest in becoming a food guardian for Eisenherz – Paten gesucht !? Then please contact the animal shelter Gütersloh by email at: or fill out a sponsorship application directly on our homepage ( ).

About Eisenherz &#8211

What life with Eisenherz &#8211 looks like

Eisenherz &#8211 is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Gütersloh in Gütersloh.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eisenherz &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eisenherz &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Gütersloh handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eisenherz &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eisenherz &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Gütersloh will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eisenherz &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eisenherz &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Gütersloh early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eisenherz &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
