EKH Hook &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

My name is Captain Hook. I am male, neutered, and born around 2015. I have been waiting for a new home since January 2021. My caretakers say about me: Captain Hook is a handout cat from our region, as the mistress could no longer take care of her. Unfortunately, she came from a generation where a cat was just a cat, and so an accident was not immediately clarified with the vet. Apparently, Captain Hook, then still Miezi, enjoyed the aftereffects, but crucial help was denied. It seems that subsequent generations did not help either or saw no necessity. He survived an auto accident, and the old fracture remains with him for life. Unfortunately, nothing more can be done. The good thing about the story, Captain Hook would not be Captain Hook if he did not make use of his disadvantage. His stiff leg is used like a stilts, and together with his owner, the accident leg manages their everyday life. During the examination, he showed no pain, so it was decided not to operate, which works because the result would be absolutely open. It is important for him to maintain his weight to avoid unnecessary strain on his leg. As he is a good hunter, this is a note for that. Captain Hook is still found in every height in the adoption room, which proves that his stiff leg only mildly hinders him. He is definitely in tempo, but climbing is not for him. Otherwise, he is a fine tomcat in his prime, cuddly, modest, character-strong, lovable, and capable of standing his ground in a crew. A life in a cat colony would suit him well, with one or two companions. But he would also feel comfortable as a lone prince. Whoever likes to hear Captain Hook's stories from our daredevil can decide for themselves whether they are seaman's yarns or not.

About EKH Hook &#8211

What life with EKH Hook &#8211 looks like

EKH Hook &#8211 is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting EKH Hook &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about EKH Hook &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw EKH Hook &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt EKH Hook &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is EKH Hook &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if EKH Hook &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know EKH Hook &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
