El

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

BENITO was born, approximately, in April 2024. He was rescued from the street in a terrible state along with his siblings CHOCO and ANITA. They spent their first 6 months of life in foster care, where they grew strong and thrived. Now they have joined our family at the animal shelter, waiting to find a home. BENITO is a young, playful, and curious cat. He is also very home-loving, affectionate, and attached to humans since he grew up in a home with people and other animals, making him a very social cat. He is truly a gem that we know would fit perfectly into any family. We are looking for responsible adoptions and want to ensure that they understand they are one more member of the family and… the family is not abandoned! BENITO is being surrendered with disease tests performed, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

About El

What life with El looks like

El is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at El Refugio Escuela Marlene in Seville.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting El, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about El?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. El Refugio Escuela Marlene handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw El on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt El if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — El Refugio Escuela Marlene will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is El already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if El isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with El Refugio Escuela Marlene early rather than rehoming privately; they know El and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
