Adopt Elafaki

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Friendly, curious, insecure, sociable. Elafaki came to us at the animal shelter with her mother Elafi. Her owner had died and they were supposed to be put on the street. So we were told her story. Elafaki is initially skeptical towards people and slowly comes out of her snail house. When she has built up some trust, she comes, sniffs and then also allows herself to be petted. A lot of patience is needed and one must give her the time to build up trust in her own pace. She is compatible with other dogs and a confident only dog in her future home would give her a lot of support. Elafaki is a very gentle female dog who has not had it so good so far and has always had to be careful. A securely fenced garden should be present in her home. A rural environment would be better suited for Elafaki than living in the middle of the city. They are all vaccinated, microchipped and have an EU passport. They are checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog that is placed makes room for one of the dogs that live a life of hunger and emaciation.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Elafaki

What life with Elafaki looks like

Elafaki is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elafaki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elafaki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elafaki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elafaki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elafaki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elafaki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elafaki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
