Elara

Husky · Female · Young · 2 years

Meet Elara, our 2 year old female Siberian Husky! Elara came to Battersea with a lovely history of being a sociable, energetic, playful and affectionate girl with both dogs and cats and people and was described as being a chatty Husky who loves to be the centre of attention and being excited to interact with her people, play with her toys and meet new doggy friends at the park. Elara has been a super sweet girl throughout her stay, she is an excitable and bouncy girl who has been keen to make new friends on every walk, dog and human alike. She has shown to be a very sociable girl with some great skills already in place and loves a good play with a like minded friend. Elara is looking for new owners who have some Husky experience and are looking for an energetic and active dog that they can go on long walks with, exploring new environments together and continue with her training. She is looking for a family environment with older children and a home with a garden, in any location and can potentially live with another like minded dog or dog savvy cat. If you think Elara is the one for you and you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about her, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. question.

About Elara

What life with Elara looks like

Elara is a medium-sized young adult husky dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
