Adopt Elin H

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

ProfileAge: Born around 2023. Gender: female. neutered: yesCharacter: very friendly, well-temperedSize: approx. 50 cmIn shelter since: September 2025Hello, I am Elin – a young German Shepherd-Mix female dog with a big heart. No one knows exactly how my life before the shelter looked. Maybe I once had a family, or perhaps I lived on the streets. But one thing I know: I love people with all my heart. When I arrived at the shelter, I immediately greeted everyone with friendliness. My tail wouldn't stop wagging, and I understood the other dogs right away. I just want to belong, play, snuggle, and feel that I am welcome. But life behind bars is hard for me. I miss the freedom, the ability to move, run, and explore the world. Instead, I spend my days in a kennel, dreaming of a meadow, a warm blanket, and a family that loves me.My biggest wish? A home where I am not just "one of many," but a real family member. People who take me by the paw, show me the world, and give me security. I promise to give all my love back – and that is a lot.Do you want to show me what a real home feels like? Then I am waiting here for you – longingly and full of hope.Your ElinInterested? If you are interested in Elin, please fill out our interest form (), or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Elin is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Elin has been taken over by Julia H., and thus ensures a full food bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

SteckbriefAlter: ca. 2023 geboren. Geschlecht: weiblich.

About Elin H

What life with Elin H looks like

Elin H is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elin H, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elin H?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elin H on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elin H if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elin H already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elin H isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elin H and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
