Adopt Ella

Yorkshire Terrier · Female · Puppy · 9 months

Our partners in Stintino are the saviors in need. Not only for abandoned or injured dogs and cats, but also when animals lose their homes. This is also the case for these sisters. Acquired when they were still puppy babies, golden and sweet. But now, as they have grown up and left their baby-like characteristics behind, they were no longer wanted. Thankfully for the two friendly puppy sisters, they did not end up in one of the notorious dog kennels, where they would have had to live under depressing conditions behind bars until the end of their lives. Instead, our partners were asked for help. During our team project tour in mid-April 2026, we got to know the two cute puppy sisters. They had only recently arrived at the rescue and were still a bit shy around the unfamiliar humans. But they get along well with the dogs and cats they now live with, and they enjoy playing and cuddling with them. However, even though Elena and Ella, as they are now called, like it at the rescue and are well cared for: It should not be a substitute for a real home. The stay there should be as short as possible. That is why we want to bring Elena and Ella to Germany as soon as the legal requirements allow it. Then they will find their beloved people who will give them their dream home with a close family connection. Do you want to give Elena or Ella the chance for a good and happy dog life? If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption brings not only a lot of joy but also a lot of work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We provide nationwide support.

About Ella

What life with Ella looks like

Ella is a large puppy/kitten yorkshire terrier dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
