Ellen e Alice

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

Generalities: Two splendid sister cats with a lustrous black coat, united by a special bond that has always been a constant in their lives. What distinguishes them are their eyes: Ellen boasts amber-gold eyes, while Alice captivates with her deep green eyes. Their names are clearly an homage to the beautiful Kessler twins, the famous German artistic duo that conquered the Italian public starting from the 1960s. Before their entry into the cat shelter, they underwent complete veterinary checks: they are in good health, FIV and FeLV negative, vaccinated, and microchipped. Character: They are two sweet and delicate cats. Their arrival at the cat shelter was not easy: they had to face the loss of the people who had been their reference points for their entire lives and leave the home they had always lived in. Ellen, recognizable by her amber eyes, was the first to regain trust. After a few days, she began to seek contact with staff and volunteers and today she gladly accepts caresses, cuddles, and moments of tenderness. Alice, with her green eyes, has a more reserved character and needed more time to feel safe. With patience and gentleness, however, she is slowly following her sister's example and every day she shows more serenity and availability for contact. Together they form a well-matched and reassuring pair: their mutual presence represents an important reference point for both. Ideal adoption: For Ellen e Alice, we are looking for a couple adoption because their bond is deep and we wish for them to continue sharing life side by side. We imagine them in a quiet and stable home where they can find the security they have lost and enjoy a serene maturity surrounded by affection. Although we do not know all the details of their past experience, we believe they can fit well into a family with their first cat experience, provided it is motivated and aware, or in the presence of calm, respectful children of their time and sensitivity. A constant presence in the home is not necessary. Ellen e Alice have lost their home, but not the ability to give affection. Today, they seek a new family that welcomes them both and allows them to continue, together, their life journey. In the short video below, Ellen is being cuddled by a volunteer. Background: Ellen e Alice spent their entire lives together, loved and cared for by an elderly couple from Lissone (MB). Unfortunately, within a few days, their world was completely turned upside down: the lady was hospitalized in a RSA, and shortly after, the husband passed away. There were no other solutions for them, so they were welcomed into the Monza cat shelter. Today, they share a spacious and comfortable box, enriched with toys, chairs, and beds, with a pleasant view of the little garden.

About Ellen e Alice

What life with Ellen e Alice looks like

Ellen e Alice is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at ENPA Monza e Brianza in Monza.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ellen e Alice, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ellen e Alice?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ENPA Monza e Brianza handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ellen e Alice on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ellen e Alice if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ENPA Monza e Brianza will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ellen e Alice already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ellen e Alice isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ENPA Monza e Brianza early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ellen e Alice and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
