Ellie

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Ellie's life was far from sheltered. Just four to five weeks old, she was found alone in the woods with two other puppies. Their mother was nowhere to be found, and we don't know how they ended up there or what happened before. Her finder took the puppies in, cared for them, and brought them to the shelter. While they are safe and cared for, a small dog's best place is with a loving family. Ellie seems determined to make the most of her new life. She is friendly, affectionate, and lively. She finds humans fascinating and approaches them with curiosity. Of course, she also has a lot of energy: playing, romping, exploring new things, and occasionally seeking attention. Ellie's days would be much longer if she could. She gets along well with other dogs and can learn from her peers. We don't know yet if she could share her future home with a cat, as she has not met one before. Visually, Ellie is a small dog with her own charm. Her unique coat pattern makes her unmistakable and gives her face a special expression. Add to that her curious puppy gaze, which attentively observes what's happening around her. A sweet little appearance that definitely brings its own recognition value. Ellie is still getting used to her new life, and a real family life is new to her. Therefore, whoever adopts her won't get a ready-made family member with an instruction manual, but a puppy that wants to learn everything with her humans. Becoming house-trained, walking on a leash, calming down at home, and eventually staying alone for a while: the entire puppy ABC is still ahead of her. There will be days when Ellie surprises her humans with her progress, and probably days when a puddle ends up on the floor or a seemingly good puppy idea seems less successful from a human perspective. Patience, understanding, and loving consistency are needed in these moments. A positively working dog school can be a great support so that Ellie can gather good experiences from the start and grow into a well-coordinated team with her humans. And when the little forest girl slowly becomes a young dog, puberty will also be around the corner. Then, rules may be thoroughly questioned again, boundaries tested, and things that seemed to be understood for a long time may be temporarily erased from memory. Whoever accompanies this time with composure, humor, and clear orientation will eventually notice that the little whirlwind has become an adult companion. Ellie has already had to experience in her first weeks of life how it is to cope without a safe home. It would be all the better if she didn't have to search for where she belongs for the rest of her life. She needs people who give her time, learn with her, give her security, and enjoy discovering the world together with her. After a successful preliminary check and against the assumption of a deposit, Ellie can travel to her new home chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-free. She brings her EU pet passport with her. Who wants to make Ellie's unknown start in the woods a story with a happy ending and show her how wonderful it is to finally belong somewhere? Thank you to Lena. You have given Ellie a name and the chance at a new life.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank an Lena.

About Ellie

What life with Ellie looks like

Ellie is a large puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ellie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ellie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ellie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ellie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ellie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ellie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ellie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
